Raccoon works with private as well as corporate clients and we are often commissioned to shoot incredibly personal and intimate moments in the lives of our clients to create images that will be treasured for a lifetime. Dan approached us to photograph his surprise wedding proposal to Megan on Primrose Hill in North London at sunrise.
Dan had spent weeks setting up the occasion and it was important for Al to be sensitive in the way in which he covered such a private event.
Al is an experienced documentary and portrait photographer but this was his first proposal, he said: “Last week I got the opportunity to shoot my first surprise engagement on Primrose Hill. I’d been messaging Dan the day leading up to it - organising location, timings and positioning - right up to his wink when he walked past me moments before he proposed. Despite not having met him before, I knew exactly what was about to happen and could tell he was slightly nervous.
Moments before he arrived I told him to land on the centre stone behind the crowds which gave me the framing I needed to get the awesome view in. Luckily he remembered this and executed it perfectly! After a few gasps from pedestrians and a big hug from a very happy couple, I revealed myself and we went for a walk to Regents Park. Fortunately for Dan and Megan, the British weather had held out for them and the deep orangey, red sunset made for some really nice photos.
When the sun went down we all jumped in a cab and headed back to their hotel at the Rosewood - where they requested a few more photos in the lobby and stairwell. Once we were all done, we had a drink in the bar to celebrate!”
