LONDON LUMIERE FESTIVAL

Recently Raccoon London photographer Helen was commissioned by Sister London to capture the annual London Lumiere Festival, a celebration of light. Lumiere London is a world-class light festival that took place over four evenings in January 2018. It showcased the capital’s spectacular and iconic architecture and streets, with more than 50 works created through the vision of leading the UK and international artists.

Helen was based in Chinatown where the lantern flamingo puppets (created by the ever-imaginative Lantern Company with Jo Pocock) paraded serenely through the streets. These pieces referenced the extraordinary intercontinental migration routes that birds take each year and the parallels to humankind's age-long migration routes across the world. In Seven Dials where there were lights and activities, the biggest crowd pleaser was the phone box fish tank filled with live fish.
